Airport Developments in Jordan

Key airport projects in Jordan include expansion of its primary gateway, Queen Alia International Airport, operated by Airport International Group (AIG) is under a 25-year concession agreement signed in 2007.

The second phase of the airport’s new terminal project was completed in September 2016 raising its annual capacity to 12 million passengers, while further expansion expects to increase the airport’s capacity to 16 million passengers by 2032.

In 2007 the Aqaba Development Corporation established Aqaba Airports Company to operate and oversee the expansion of King Hussein International Airport, which serves the ambitious industrial expansion plans of the Red Sea port city.

The airport is being expanded in 2 phases, expected to be completed in 2030, which include a rehabilitation of the runway, expansion of the arrivals and departure areas, construction of a new air traffic control tower and civil defence and administrative buildings and security facilities.

Airport International Group and Aqaba Development Corporation participate at the Airport Show as part of the event’s exclusive Business Connect matchmaking programme, along with over 200 regional airport and aviation hosted buyers.
