Qatar's Hamad International Airport Reports 101% Surge in 2022 Passenger Traffic

In December 2022, Qatar welcomed 244,261 GCC visitors, a 447.5% YoY increase. Hamad International Airport saw a 101% YoY rise in passengers, exceeding 35 million. The number of air traffic movements increased by 28.2% compared to 2021. The 2022 FIFA World Cup, new airline alliances, and Qatar Airways' expansion all contributed to the spike. Top passenger destinations included India, the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. The Americas and Africa experienced substantial growth in passenger volumes. Point-to-point traffic surged by 85%, benefiting from the FIFA World Cup and recent tourism infrastructure developments. The event attracted over 1.4 million attendees, boosting tourism and hospitality demand.
