Regional Project of the month: Energy Efficiency project at KKIA
This month saw Riyadh Airports Company (RAC), who operate King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) announce its intention to comprehensively upgrade the airport’s use of smarter energy solutions, for greener and more efficient daily operations.
The project is broad ranging in its remit, designed to address practically every facet of the airport’s infrastructure and operations. All passenger terminals, the Airport’s industrial zone and utilities and support facilities will be undergoing the smart energy boosting treatment. The first step in the process is for RAC’s project partner ENGIE to perform an airport-wide energy audit, to determine the most cost-effective solutions and technologies that could be deployed.
Once the audit is complete, suppliers, manufacturers and solutions providers will have the opportunity to demonstrate the suitability of their products, and perhaps become part of this next-generation airport upgrade project.
