Passenger information is processed prior to their trip and all immigration rules are checked and confirmed in advance that then enables them to travel through the corridor without the need to present any travel document or stop at immigration counters.

Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) rolled out the pilot phase of its 'Smart Tunnel' at Dubai Airports' Terminal 3.

"It is the first of its kind in the world as with simple steps. The traveller can finish his departure procedure without the need to use any travel documents such as passport, ID cards or boarding cards," said Major-General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director of GDRFA, adding that the project was tested before being introduced at the airport.
